Biography

A University of Dayton printmaking instructor, Brother Barrish, inspired me as an artist and also as a future art educator. His philosophy of art emphasized that honesty and truth were integral to esthetic beauty.

At the University of Maryland, Tadeusz Lapinski, to whom I was graduate assistant, literally walked out of the room before each student's presentation of ideas, announcing to the whole class "Now we have a new world of art."

I use two middle initials to honor my father, Charles Rebeta, who allowed me to study Fine Art and also started me on a lifetime of appreciation of beautiful landscapes and different cultures. Besides my own extensive travel in Europe, the Middles and the Far East, a residency in Africa opened my responses to the art, culture, and people of Ghana.

I like to create art that gives people appreciation of the beauty and spiritual quality of nature. I have been honored by recognition in juried art exhibits and even in awards that acknowledge that my visual imagery has significance. I hope that I have given back to my community in art organization leadership roles and by my career as an Associate Professor of Art.
